Hey there! I’m Laurel Chen
ANIMATOR, ILLUSTRATOR & CREATIVE MULTIPOTENTIALITE
Before we had history, we had storytelling.
It’s how we define our identity, our experiences, and our world.
In this digital age, nothing beats the storytelling power of videos & visual aids to reach the minds and hearts of your target audience.
WHY WORK WITH ME?
I'm a real person who cares, not a faceless entity. I'm easy to reach and communicate with — I won't keep you on hold for an hour or transfer your call to three different departments. With no red tape in the way, you'll get quick turnaround, thoughtful responses, and a fun, personalized approach.
BROAD SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
My broad skillset allows me to join existing teams remotely or on location, take on projects solo from the initial concept to the final result, or calling together my trusted team of collaborators. I’ve worked with clients internationally and across the US, on projects big and small.
A PERSONALIZED APPROACH
I’ll carefully listen to your project needs, find the best approach to tell your story, and serve it up fresh. No regurgitated content or stale templates. Stand out — beautifully, boldly, uniquely. Be unforgettable.
A RELIABLE PARTNERSHIP
I pride myself on doing great work, and being great to work with. With organized communications and workflow, I’m all about making you look good — delivering on brand, on budget, and on time.
A SNIPPET OF MY STORY
I'm a New Yorker who's also lived in China and Australia for several years apiece.
I got my B.A. from Amherst College as a double major in art & English. Storytelling, whether through words or visuals, is something I’ve always loved.
Language intrigues me. I'm also fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and Spanish... and I've been learning Russian and Portuguese for fun.
You can often find me running through the woods, dissecting films & books, enjoying new culinary experiences, and fattening up my travel sketchbook.
I’m a firm believer in the power of international perspective. I love getting to know different people, cultures, and places on a deeper level. (So far, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel through London, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Australia (from the Great Barrier Reef down to Penguin, Tasmania), New Zealand, Fiji, Hong Kong, Macau, and different regions in China.)
